The Algarve is distinguished as one of the best golf destinations in the world, boasts 30 golf courses on a range of less than 100 km - a fabulous than the other.

The golf courses of the Algarve are long since no longer a secret among the professionals. Bizarre rock formations, white sandy beaches and the wild nature of the outback are an interesting landscape that provides a harmonious complement to a golf trip.

For many years, the golf courses in the Algarve are of a consistently good level. Famous places like San Lorenço, Royal Vale do Lobo and Victoria, and while others can compete with the best of Europe, but also the new, rather more obscure places such as Quinta da Ria, Quinta da Cima and Boavista are appealing challenges with a high standard.

Western Algarve - Sagres and Albufeira
There are a broad range of design and landscape in these places. The coastal landscape of this part of the Algarve is truly fantastic. A good starting point near the rock formations is the area around Lagos. If you want to combine your golfing holiday with plenty of night life, this should be "Albufeira". In this region there are more options if you want to play golf without handicaps.

Central Algarve - Vilamoura and Quinta do Lago
This area offers the highest density of golf courses, all courses are less than 30 minutes from Faro airport. Some of these places require handicaps are better than the generally required 28 for men and 36 for ladies.  Who wants to play on these courts, the most preferred destination "Vilamoura" or Touristicregions at "Quinta do Lago" and "Vale de Lobo".

Eastern Algarve - places east of Faro, some in Spain
Tavira in eastern Algarve is a real alternative to the most popular golf destinations west of Faro. There are four golf courses: "Benamor", "Castro Marim* and the two places "Quinta da Ria", and some places, obvious the border in Spain.  Recommended in Spain is 27-hole place "Islantilla". Many places also without handicaps.

Fly and Drive
In the Algarve, there is little public transportation, so it is advisable in any case, book flights and car together. Travel just two people, requires only a small car. Otherwise the better choice, a van or a small Bus (like Renault, Opel, Nissan, Mercedes).

Location
There are two possibilities. Either one is intended for the entire stay in a hotel, a cottage with a pool or in an apartment near a golf course one, or you can travel around. Traveling around has the advantage that one can experience and learn a lot of very different scenic golf courses.
